Strategies for Stronger Movements: 2010 Southern Focus Convening

These convenings are necessary to strengthen our work, build stronger connections and report on victories. Stay strong!

- Participant

In April 2010 the Ms. Foundation for Women brought together a group of our Southern Focus grantees in Atlanta to build a more powerful progressive base in the region. By working together these groups -- which work across issues and constituencies to build grassroots movements for social and economic change -- can build stronger coalitions and make a greater impact on policy and culture at local, state and national levels.

The organizations that met in Atlanta work on issues as diverse as environmental sustainability (Louisiana Bucket Brigade), criminal justice reform (Safe Streets Strong Communities) and living wage (Let Justice Roll Living Wage Campaign), yet each understands that in order to create real and lasting change, they must recognize and act on the interconnection of these issues.

In Atlanta, the participants shared stories, visions, strategies and resources, building a truly collaborative vision of change. Examples of their work are included in the headlines below and the audio clips in the sidebar.
